Fischereischein vs fishing permit: you need both
The German state fishing licence and the permit for a specific water are two different things. Here's how they fit together.
Two permissions
- The Fischereischein is the state fishing licence. It is set by each Land. You normally get it after passing the Fischerprüfung.
- The Fischereierlaubnis is a permit for a specific water, sold by the club, leaseholder or owner of the fishing rights.
You need both before you fish.
Visitors
Some Länder offer a short visitor licence without the exam. In Schleswig-Holstein, the Urlauberfischereischein is valid for 28 days and is issued online. See our Schleswig-Holstein guide.
